Mount
Kosciuszko
journal entry:
July 12, 2008
Overcast skies, steady wind,
accumulation of over 2 ft.
of new snow
“We
gear up and head out for our second attempt. Why is it that
the little things in life that seem so simple on the
surface, can often cause the greatest problems? Today looks
like it will be problem free. We head out with a visual of
our destination, instead of a compass heading. We snowshoe
through a bit of wind, and gaze at pristine winter
wonderland vistas. The new snows have cast a beautiful
windswept snowscape in front of us, which looks like the
desert to me. We crunch over ice and snow, catching a
glimpse of the metal walkways, which are visible much of the
year.” |
