Tears of joy and of sorrow as I reach the summit of Mount Elbrus.

Mount Elbrus journal entry:
August 19, 2002

“It was an emotional summit day for me today.  My body was tired and my heart was heavy.  I wore a lock of Mom’s hair in a necklace that hung around my neck throughout this climb.  My dad’s ring was attached to its chain.  They are always in my heart and I carried my parents with me in spirit.  As I reached the top, I looked at the grand vista around me.  I shouted “Good Bye Mom”, with tears running down my frozen cheeks.”
