Kilimanjaro journal entry:
June 3, 1993
“There were lots of distractions to keep our minds entertained
today. It was a long trudge to reach our first hut. We
walked for many hours, hearing our guide repeat “poli, poli”, which
meant slowly, slowly. We need to acclimatize slowly so we don’t get
the massive altitude headaches. Tonight we sleep in an A-frame
hut with two wooden slabs against the walls, for beds. I rented a
sleeping bag at the hotel, and I am wondering if it will be warm
enough. Dad looks toasty in his new down bag. Want to trade Dad?” |
