Aconcagua journal entry:
Dec. 27, 1999
“It was an emotional day today. A
woman climber in the next tent died last night from
altitude sickness. We could hear her crying
and coughing through the nylon walls of our shelter.
Many of our team were experiencing dangerous
altitude sickness symptoms also, and had to stay
behind. Dad was one of them. I worry
that my father is going down with altitude sickness.
Dad worries that his daughter is going ahead with
MS. No one here knows that I have it. I
want to be judged by my personal strength and not by
my label of this illness.” |
