Aconcagua journal entry:
Dec. 22, 1999
“Today we carried our loads to Camp Canada. The trail was a
series of switchbacks up the rocky slopes. Many in the group
are starting to feel the headaches and nausea that comes with
altitude sickness. To better acclimatize, we follow the rule of
climb high, sleep low, as we ascend the mountain. We dumped
our loads at 16,000 ft. and returned to sleep at a lower elevation.
We will climb back to Camp Canada tomorrow.” |
